Modelling Individual Decisions to Support
the European Policies Related to Agriculture

MIND STEP partners meet for the last time in Brussels!

On 26 October 2023, MIND STEP Final Stakeholder Conference and partner meeting was held in Brussels

After an insightful day of discussions and deliberations, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the MIND STEP Final Event a success. Your participation, insights, and contributions have been invaluable.

The event, held both in Brussels and online on October 26th, 2023, brought together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to address critical questions surrounding the future of EU agriculture.

 Exploring the Path Forward:
Our discussions revolved around the transformation of EU agriculture over the next decade, the impact of policy scenarios on sustainability, farm income distribution, structural changes in agriculture, food security, and the role of climate policies and technological innovation. It's clear that these challenges require a multidisciplinary approach.

The Role of Modelling:
MIND STEP, through years of dedicated work, has developed individual farm models that encompass various topics. This innovative approach offers insights into behavioral aspects, risk management, adoption of new technologies, eco-schemes, crop management practices, land use change, and agricultural structural changes at the regional and sectoral levels.

 Bridging Policy and Science:
Our objective was to bridge the gap between science and policy by offering a toolbox of data and models for the analysis of EU agricultural and environmental policy, focusing on the farm scale and individual farmer behavior. The results of the MIND STEP project and its policy recommendations are set to make a significant impact on sustainable agriculture, helping us overcome challenges and identify innovative solutions.

An Insightful Day:
The event's agenda included presentations from MIND STEP team members and keynote speakers from the EU Commission and a farmers' organization. The valuable insights, perspectives, and opinions shared were essential for understanding the project's achievements and its future prospects.

The panel discussions with key stakeholders further emphasized the significance of MIND STEP's results and policy recommendations for EU policies and other groups of stakeholders.

A Collaborative Effort:
As we wrap up this event, we emphasize that the journey doesn't end here. Together, we have initiated a new kind of technical, agronomical, environmental, and economic modeling that can contribute to building bridges between stakeholders in the policy process and policy design.

We're excited to continue this journey, create meaningful change, and ensure a sustainable and healthy future for all.
